Good news, everyone - there's going to be a Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament this year at Fanfest!
CCP weren't able to make room in their schedule for one so we're taking matters into our own hands! The tournament will be held at Bryggjan Brugghus, a new microbrewery and restaurant that has opened up on the ground floor of the same building that houses CCP HQ, right near the EVE monument. It's a short walk from downtown Reykjavik.
Date: Wednesday, 20th April
Time: 1.30pm to 5.30pm
Place: Bryggjan Brugghus, Grandagar+¦ur 8, 101 Reykjavik
We will be using cool EVE-themed cards and chips and there'll be over 60 billion ISK worth of prizes up for grabs! Fanfest attendees also get Happy Hour prices on drinks at Bryggjan Brugghus for the duration of Fanfest and they're brewing the special Fanfest beers so come try some.
The tournament officially starts at 1.30pm but everyone's invited to come to Bryggjan Brugghus from 12pm to enjoy some of their excellent craft beers and a delicious lunch with other EVE players before we sit down and play some poker. Although CCP will be super busy getting ready for Fanfest, given that the bar is the same building as their offices I'm hoping we'll be able to get some devs to swing by for a chat and maybe even get a couple to join us for the tournament.
Initially we'll have room for 40 players, but if there's a lot of interest we're able to expand.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
The buy in price for this tournament is 1 PLEX. The PLEX should be contracted to Bam Stroker in-game with the reason "Fanfest Poker". ALL ENTRY PLEX WILL BE GOING INTO THE PRIZE POOL. And no, this isn't a scam. I have a long track record of organising big events both in- and out-of-game, including EVE Down Under which is one of the largest EVE player gatherings in the world. Also, considering this is an IRL event I'm pretty sure CCP Falcon would destroy me with his Geordie laser vision if I tried to scam anyone.
After you've contracted your PLEX please also fill out THIS FORM so that I can keep track of tournament participants and let the venue know how many people will be coming for lunch as well.

PRIZES:
A total prize pool of 40 PLEX will be up for grabs. If we get fewer than 40 people then I will personally cover the shortfall to ensure a minimum prize pool of 40 PLEX. Prize structure and blinds will be announced in a follow up post soonGäó.
In addition to the PLEX for placing, our friends at EVE Bet will be providing prizes for "exotics" - i.e. the first player to hit a red flush, straight, full house, eliminate another player etc. will receive a pirate ship pack consisting of frigates, cruisers and battleships.
The biggest prize of all though is coming together with other EVE players for an afternoon of fun as we all board the best ship in EVE - friendship. So sell off your junk and buy a PLEX off the market or just buy one with cash if you have to, it'll be a great afternoon!

@Drechlas - yes m8 it's overlapping with the soccer which is a bit of a bummer for some people but there's only so much time around FF when it's practical to hold an event. I suppose if you wanted to get some poker in you could come but when you leave you'll probably just have to drop out.

I'll have a laptop at the tournament with EVE installed which you can use to log in and get me the PLEX if you'd like to do that.

Hi guys, sorry for the radio silence since the tournament but FF has been hectic and I haven't even logged in for about a week. I'm on my way home now though and will be contracting out prizes this weekend once I sleep off the 24 hour trip.

I've just finished contracting out the last of the prizes. All PLEX and prizes for exotics have been sent out so please check your contracts.
If anyone hasn't received a prize who should have, or didn't get what they were expecting, please let me know via evemail and I'll try to resolve the issue ASAP.
